Klickitat County Superior Court

The Superior Court handles adult felony crimes, civil disputes, dissolutions and family law matters, juvenile cases, real property disputes, and domestic violence issues. Klickitat County District Courts

Klickitat County has two district courts, one in Goldendale and one in White Salmon. Neither handles divorce filings, which go to Superior Court. But they handle related matters such as name changes, protection orders, and small claims.

The Klickitat County East District Court is in Goldendale and handles traffic and non-traffic infractions, misdemeanors, civil matters, anti-harassment and protection orders, and small claims. West District Court serves White Salmon and surrounding areas. The address is 501 NE Washington Street, White Salmon, WA 98672. Phone: 509-493-1190. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed noon to 1 p.m. Judge Jeff Baker presides over West District Court. It handles misdemeanors, civil cases up to $75,000, and protection orders. Klickitat County has both East and West district courts, so make sure you contact the correct one for your matter.

State Divorce Certificates

The Washington State Department of Health holds divorce records from 1968 to the present. It can issue a short divorce certificate confirming the marriage ended, at a starting fee of $25. The DOH does not have the full divorce decree. For the decree, you go to the Klickitat County Clerk.

The DOH receives records from county clerks. It can take up to five months from the date of divorce for the clerk to send the record to the state office. If your case was finalized recently, start with the Klickitat County Clerk at 509-773-5744. The clerk can tell you if the record has been sent to the state yet. Washington State dissolves marriages under RCW Chapter 26.09 and does not require fault as a ground for dissolution.
